About Jason Silke, CPO

Jason Silke, CPO

Jason Silke was born in upstate New York and was an extremely active kid as he grew up. He enjoyed playing all of the different sports as he went through high school but Jason soon found that hockey was his true joy. His interest in sports led him to State University of New York at Potsdam where he graduated in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

After graduating from SUNY Potsdam, Jason expanded his studies to include the treatment of acute and chronic injuries in the allied health care field by attending Central Florida University. It was during his time in Florida that Jason was introduced by a friend to the orthotic and prosthetic profession, especially when he soon visited a local O&P provider. Jason was immediately drawn to the O&P field and he soon became a fabrication technician with Orthopedic Brace in Melbourne, FL. He continued to grow his fabrication expertise over the next several years in both orthotics and prosthetics.

In 1998, Jason decided that he wanted to make the move to become even more involved in improving the lives of O&P patients. He was accepted to Northwestern University's curriculum in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and he completed both programs in 1998 and 2001, respectively. After completing his residencies for both specialties, Jason decided that it was time to return home to New York state and soon met Thomas Passero at Prosthetic & Orthotic Associates. Jason joined POA in 2001 where he has expanded his expertise in both orthotics and prosthetics.

Jason continues to develop his clinical and technical expertise by attending practitioner seminars throughout the country. His advanced training and experience with microprocessor controlled knees has led him to be a noted expert in lower limb prosthetics. At the same time that he developed his prosthetic skills, Jason has continued to expand his knowledge in several orthotic fields including a growing expertise in the utilization of cranial remolding orthosis to help children with various forms of cranial deformations.

In his time away from work, Jason continues to enjoy sports, most especially hockey, but his true passion has become his family.
