About Stella Thai, MSPO
Stella was born and raised in Mechanicsville, VA, where she was active in sports and giving back to her community. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2017 with her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. It was during her undergraduate career when Stella found a love for philanthropy and service, as an active member of Relay For Life, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Sigma Kappa Sorority, and the Panhellenic Council, to name a few. Her involvement with these organizations empowered her to pursue a career in prosthetics and orthotics which allows her to make a direct impact in people’s lives while still utilizing her engineering and problem-solving background. In 2019, Stella graduated from Georgia Tech with her Master of Science degree in prosthetics and orthotics. During graduate school, Stella continued her philanthropic work, leading her cohort to raise over $3100 for the Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation. She completed her orthotics residency at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s Orthotics and Prosthetics Department, where she learned the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Stella joined the Prosthetic & Orthotic Associates team in the summer of 2020 as a board eligible orthotist and prosthetic resident, eager to continue her clinical education in a collaborative environment while providing exceptional patient care in the Hudson Valley Region.
In her free time, Stella enjoys running, hiking, playing volleyball, and baking desserts. She dedicates several nights a week to mentor and tutor high school students in SAT and ACT test prep and high school math courses. Stella continues to participate in local Relay For Life and Walk to End Alzheimer’s events, and hopes to engage in more prosthetic and orthotic related charitable work within her career.
