About Tim Bump, MSPO, CP

Tim Bump, MSPO, CP, Board Eligible Orthotist

Tim Bump was born and raised in Oregon. He developed a desire for exploring the outdoors which balanced his interests in building computers, working on cars, and going on medical mission trips. Experiences which all nurtured his desire to create, learn, and help others, leading him to study kinesiology at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA.

While in college, Tim assisted with programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting a sense of belonging, empowerment, and providing them with opportunities in the community. He played collegiate polo and volunteered for various events on campus and around the community. He also wrote a paper on new technology emerging in the field of prosthetics, which introduced him to the profession and sparked his interest.

After college, Tim continued working with people with disabilities. He rediscovered prosthetics through a friend, and was able to travel to several clinics around the United States, where he discovered it was a profession that combined everything he loves. He obtained a master's degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics at Georgia Institute of Technology, and moved to Tennessee for his residency with Fillauer Orthotics and Prosthetics. He also traveled with a group to Colombia and provided prostheses to patients with limited access to care.

At Fillauer, Tim dove into his vocation, combining new and old technology to help patient's accomplish their goals. He gained unique upper extremity experience and built a foundation with challenging lower extremity prosthetic and orthotic cases. He also managed a pediatric clubfoot clinic at a local children's hospital, where he treated kiddos with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, charcot marie tooth, and other conditions.

Tim joined the teams at Prosthetic & Orthotic Associates and Handspring in the spring of 2020 to continue individual growth as a well-rounded practitioner and pursue utilization of new technologies with which to better meet the needs of his patients. In his down time, he enjoys doing pretty much anything outdoors, especially hiking, camping, SCUBA diving, and biking. He also enjoys trying new things, woodworking projects, traveling, cooking, and volunteering in the community.
