Dominic
He wore his helmet consistently for 3 months and ended up with amazing results!
Dominic was born premature and developed torticollis. Torticollis is when muscles in the neck become tight due to birth positioning or muscle imbalances. Physical therapy stretches and exercises were critical to improving Dominic’s neck range of motion, but unfortunately, Dominic had began to develop plagiocephaly.
Plagiocephaly is flattening of the skull bones, which can occur very easily in infants who are premature. After speak with Dominic’s family and reviewing his cranial measurements, it was determined that he was the perfect candidate for a cranial remolding helmet to address the plagiocephaly.
Here’s what Johns Hopkins has to say about Plagiocepahly and Cranial Remolding Treatment:
“Sometimes when a baby sleeps in the same position, the soft plates may develop a flat spot or uneven appearance. This common condition is called plagiocephaly, and it is not dangerous to your baby’s brain.
Helmet molding therapy, or cranial orthosis, is a type of treatment in which a baby is fitted with a special helmet to correct the shape of the skull. Helmet molding therapy is not painful or uncomfortable for your baby.”
Dominic was a helmet rockstar! He wore his helmet consistently for 3 months and ended up with great results!
His cranial measurements are well within the normative ranges now and he was able to successfully graduate from cranial helmet therapy! Great job Dominic!
